What is parricide? Sometimes referred to as matricide or patricide, it is the when a child kills a parent. We are dedicated to 1) conducting research critical to understanding why kids kill their parents, and 2) providing education and outreach to prevent parricide events. Through knowledge comes understanding, and through understanding comes wisdom. That is what prevention is all about. We would love to partner with you to make this work possible.
What is parricide? It's when a child kills a parent. The Parricide Prevention Institute is gathering data and conducting research to understand why children kill their parents. Data (in statistically adequate amounts) is difficult to come by, but we have collected data on over 2,000 parricide events and are drilling each event down to individual and family. Data analysis has begun and we are excited to share the results! Please join us by supporting our efforts to make a measurable difference in the lives of others.
In the Viking Age, the Helm of Awe was used to invoke the ultimate protection for the wearer. This symbol was believed to protect the wearer against the abuse of power. The meaning of the word, awe, was meant to strike with fear and reverence: to influence by respect. We salute those who have reared children in a world where respect for parents and reverence for boundaries and love are often breached.
